Foster Children - Statistics In Kitsap County, Washington, there are approximately 600 children in the foster care system. This is enough to fill 3 elementary schools. A recent Casey Family Foundation study of Washington and Oregon foster children found 53% had been sexually assaulted and 26% physically abused.
